FCT high court grants Godwin Emefiele ₦300 million bail

In a recent development, the FCT High Court has granted bail to the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in the sum of ₦300 million. Justice Hamza Muazu presided over the decision and ordered Emefiele to provide two sureties with certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District.

As part of the bail conditions, Emefiele is required to deposit all his travel documents with the court’s registrar and is restricted to the Abuja Municipal Council. Until he fulfills the bail requirements, he will remain in the Kuje Correctional Centre.

This decision comes after four months since the Federal High Court in Lagos granted Emefiele bail in the sum of ₦20 million. The ongoing legal proceedings continue to draw attention amid allegations against the former CBN governor.
