The council chairman of Akwanga local government area in Nasarawa state, Safiyanu Isa Andaha has been kidnapped by gunmen.
The local government chairman and one Adamu Custom were kidnapped at Ningo village of Akwanga around 8:30 p.m. on Monday , new year day
The Police Command in Nasarawa State is also currently investigating the abduction of Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA) chairman by the gunmen.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed this to AIT in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.
Nansel said that Umar Nadada, the Commissioner of Police in the state, had already mobilised personnel to go after the perpetrators and ensure the safe release of the kidnapped chairman and the other individual.
Nansel urged the public, particularly residents from villages within the area, to provide any relevant information which could aid in the rescue of those abducted and the arrest of the perpetrators.
