FUTA Students Protest Tuition Fee Hike

Students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA), on Monday embarked on a massive protest at the school’s Gate, to kick against the decision of the management to increase their school fees.

 

The students who carried placards with different inscriptions are questioning reasons behind the hike, saying that FUTA is a public and not private school

 

The protest led to gridlock on the Akure/Ilesha highway as vehicular movement was largely obstructed

 

They pleaded with the management of the institution to maintain the previous year’s school fees.

 

The students alleged that the management had increased the school fees to over two hundred thousand naira for freshers while old Students who were paying Thirty five thousand would now pay one hundred and thirty thousand naira.

 

 

Meanwhile The Management of the Federal University of Technology Akure FUTA has ordered the indefinite postponement of resumption of students for the 2023/2024 academic session.
