In a significant breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force has dismantled a notorious bandits’ camp in Kaduna and apprehended a deadly kidnapper linked to the gruesome murder of Nabeeha, daughter of a Bwari-based legal practitioner. The arrest unfolded on January 20, 2024, as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division, acting on intelligence, raided a hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, leading to the capture of Bello Mohammed, a 28-year-old from Zamfara state.

Bello was found in possession of a substantial amount, totaling #2.25 million, suspected to be proceeds from ransoms collected in the region. The suspect, during questioning, confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping of Barrister Ariyo’s family members in Bwari, FCT, on January 2, 2024, and the subsequent heinous act that claimed the life of Nabeeha on January 13, 2024, in a kidnappers’ camp in Kaduna State.

In a surprising turn of events, Bello Mohammed attempted to bribe the DPO with a staggering #1,000,000 in an effort to escape justice. The DPO, SP Idris Ibrahim, displayed unwavering integrity and professionalism by rejecting the bribe, ensuring that the law was upheld.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has lauded the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for his dedication and commendable handling of the case. The IGP expressed appreciation for the rejection of the bribe, emphasizing the importance of such ethical conduct in maintaining the integrity of the police force.

The arrested suspect, Bello Mohammed, has provided crucial information, revealing the involvement of five neutralized bandits in Kaduna. The IRT, led by Mai Gemu (aka Godara), successfully destroyed the deadly camp associated with the criminal network. IGP Egbetokun has issued orders for the suspect to be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations. The goal is to unravel the full extent of the criminal activities and apprehend all individuals responsible for the reprehensible acts.

As the investigation unfolds, the police assure the public that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice. IGP Egbetokun reiterates the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to eradicate criminal elements, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

The arrest of Bello Mohammed and the exposure of the criminal network in Kaduna mark a significant victory for law enforcement.
