Cubana Chief Priest granted N10m bail by court amidst naira abuse allegations

 

In a significant legal development, Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos State has granted Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, bail amounting to N10 million, accompanied by two sureties in like sum.

As reported by The Nation, the celebrity barman entered a plea of not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the Nigerian currency during his court appearance.

Facing a trial presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare, Cubana Chief Priest stands accused on three counts relating to the abuse of the naira, allegedly perpetuated by spraying and tampering with the national currency in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007. The alleged incidents occurred on February 13, 2024, at the esteemed Eko Hotel venue.

According to the prosecution, Cubana Chief Priest purportedly engaged in the act of spraying the naira notes while indulging in dance festivities at the social event. The accused is alleged to have tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes, persisting in the act for a duration of two hours.
