The Nigerian movie industry has again been thrown into mourning after the news of the death of another veteran Yoruba Actor Ganiyu Oyeyemi popularly known as Ogunjimi, surfaced on social media on Friday.
Ogunjimi’s death was announced by his colleague Kunle Afod, in a post on his Instagram handle.
His death follows the demise of Junior Pope who died in a boat mishap.
Mourning the actor, Afod wrote, “We tried our best but God loves you more.
“May his soul rest in peace. Baba Ogunjinmi, RIP, Sun re oooo.”
At the time of writing this report, the cause of death has not yet been ascertained.
The late actor was arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly raping one of his daughter’s friends in 2014.
According to Daily Post, he was detained at the Oke-Baale division of the Nigeria Police, after doctors confirmed that the victim was indeed raped.
The victim, a 22 year old lady (name withheld), claimed that Ogunjimi had carnal knowledge of her in his home in Osogbo.
The actor was said to have been responsible for the upkeep of the victim and her mother who until recently lived with him in his Osogbo residence.
