Andre Villas Boas has been elected the new president of FC Porto according to Portuguese media reports on Saturday.
The result puts an end to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa’s 42 years at the helm of the Portuguese giants, with Villas Boas reportedly winning as much as 70% of the vote to usher in a new era for the club.
86-year-old Pinto da Costa was the longest serving president in world football who saw Porto win a record 68 titles during his time in charge, including two Champions League titles.
Villas Boas had previously served under Pinto da Costa as Porto manager for the 2010-2011 season, leading the club to the Portuguese league and cup double as well a Europa League crown before departing for Chelsea.
