35 health workers affected as mpox spreads

About 35 health workers have been infected with the Mpox virus.

This is according to the Mpox situation report posted on the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) X pages on Tuesday. 

The viral infection has spread to 28 states across 128 local government areas in the country.

In its situation report as of 6 October, the health agency reported that the total confirmed cases is 1025.

Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus.

It’s an infectious disease that can cause a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes, fever, headache, muscle ache, back pain, and low energy. Most people fully recover from mpox, but some can get very sick.
