Just in: Obi defeats Tinubu in Lagos

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, winner of the Presidential election in Lagos State.

The result announced by the Collation Officer for the election, Professor, Adenike Oladiji showed that the Labour Party candidate scored a total of five hundred and eighty two thousand, four hundred and fifty four (582,454) votes to defeat Tinubu, who is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress. According to INEC, Tinubu scored a total of five hundred and seventy two thousand, six hundred and six (572,606) to come second in a state that is considered his stronghold having dictated the political direction for over two decades.
