Since catapulting to international acclaim in 2019, Burna Boy has remained a stalwart in the global promotion of African music, amassing awards and captivating audiences worldwide with his remarkable repertoire.

 

The unveiling of the 2024 Grammy nominations brought forth a celebration of African musical excellence, featuring stellar Nigerian talents Davido, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr, alongside Burna Boy and South African sensation Tyla.

 

In the debut category of the African Song Performance award, Burna Boy’s track ‘City Boy’ from the 2023 album ‘I Told Them’ secured a coveted nomination. The esteemed category includes Asake & Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Davido’s ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys, and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

 

Distinguished as the most nominated Nigerian artist, Burna Boy clinched an unprecedented four nominations. His exceptional nods encompass Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage, Best Global Music Performance for ‘Alone,’ and Best Global Album for ‘I Told Them.’

 

Taking to his social media platforms, Burna Boy expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Grammy Academy for the prestigious recognition. He also extended warm congratulations to his fellow African nominees, lauding their undeniable talent.
