National Assembly extends support: Provides coaster buses, ₦35,000 cash award to Parliamentary staff

In a proactive move to alleviate the impact of petrol subsidy removal on its members, the National Assembly has delivered a significant gesture by handing over eight coaster buses and a ₦35,000 cash award to the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

 

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, while speaking during the handover ceremony, expressed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting its staff during challenging times. Jibrin commended the Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal, for his role in facilitating the provision of the buses.

 

Highlighting the dedication to staff welfare, Jibrin emphasized the swift approval of the bus purchase by Senate President Godswill Akpabio upon receiving the request. The Deputy Senate President affirmed that the newly acquired buses aimed to address transportation challenges faced by parliamentary staff.

 

“The national assembly has also ensured the payment of the ₦35,000 cash award to its staff. You can see that we are serious about staff welfare,” Jibrin stated, underscoring the ongoing efforts to prioritize the well-being of parliamentary staff.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that parliamentary staff, present during the handover, expressed their appreciation to the National Assembly for the thoughtful gesture.
