FRSC in Zamfara records significant drop in crashes and fatalities in 2023

In a positive turn of events, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Zamfara State has revealed a noteworthy improvement in road safety, as reported by the Sector Commander Iro Danladi during a press briefing in Gusau on Thursday.

Danladi disclosed that the region witnessed a considerable decrease in road crashes, dropping from 95 in 2022 to 69 in 2023. The impact is even more pronounced in the realm of fatalities, with 126 recorded in 2022 sharply decreasing to 58 in 2023.

The statistics further reveal a substantial reduction in injuries, with 535 reported in the 95 road crashes of 2022, contrasting with 248 injuries resulting from the 69 road crashes in 2023.

Danladi stressed the importance of responsible driving while also highlighting the FRSC’s 2023 annual end-of-year campaign theme: “Speed thrills, but kills: Drive responsibly and avoid overloading.”

He said; “The key message here is that safe driving always results in safe arrival. This can only be achieved through activities such as sensitisation, enforcement, monitoring, and increased collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders.”
