Zamfara lawmaker raises alarm as relentless bandit attacks plague constituency

In a candid expression of concern, Amiru Keta, a dedicated member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly representing Tsafe West Constituency, has voiced his distress over the persistent onslaught of bandit attacks afflicting his constituents. Speaking passionately to newsmen in Gusau on a somber Saturday, Keta highlighted the gravity of the situation, particularly condemning recent attacks on Danjibga, Keta, Dangulbin-Kwaren Ganuwa, and Kwalfada communities within his constituency.

The lawmaker, also serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Culture, did not mince words as he conveyed the devastating impact of these attacks, which tragically resulted in the loss of innocent lives in the affected communities. Expressing deep empathy, Keta utilized the media platform to extend his condolences and sympathies to the grieving families, urging solace from Allah for the deceased and strength for their bereaved loved ones.

“I am using this medium to condole and sympathize with the people of the affected communities, especially the families of the deceased. I pray to Allah to grant the deceased Aljannatul Firdausi and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss,” Keta solemnly stated, reflecting the heavy toll the attacks have taken on the community’s well-being.

Amidst the distressing scenario, Keta found a glimmer of acknowledgment for Governor Dauda Lawal’s recent initiative—the recruitment of 4,200 Community Protection Guards. The lawmaker recognized this move as a commendable effort to complement the existing endeavors of security agencies in the relentless battle against banditry within the state.

While Keta’s lamentation underscores the severity of the situation, his commendation for the governor’s proactive measures hints at a collective determination to address the security challenges. The recruitment of Community Protection Guards signifies a tangible step towards fortifying the state’s security apparatus and protecting vulnerable communities from the scourge of banditry.

As Zamfara grapples with the persistently menacing specter of bandit attacks, the proactive measures taken by the government, as acknowledged by Keta, offer a glimmer of hope for the beleaguered constituents. The lawmaker’s outspokenness reflects not only his role as a legislative representative but also his commitment to amplifying the urgent need for concerted efforts in tackling the security crisis that has plagued the region.
