In a significant stride toward bolstering security infrastructure, Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, officially commissioned the newly relocated Bode Thomas Police Station in Surulere, Lagos State. This pivotal project, facilitated by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, marks a collaborative effort to enhance law enforcement capabilities in the aftermath of the Endsars protest.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Bode Thomas Police Station, formerly situated on Bode Thomas Road, Surulere, faced adversity during the Endsars protest. However, it has now been strategically relocated to Census Area, Babs Animashaun Road, Surulere, where it stands as a symbol of resilience and commitment to public safety.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, warmly received Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at the newly commissioned police station. Fayoade expressed commendation for Femi Gbajabiamila’s role in realizing this crucial project, emphasizing its significance in safeguarding lives and properties in Surulere and its environs.

“It shows his commitment to the security of lives and properties of residents of Lagos State. It shows that he has the interest of people in Lagos at heart,” stated Commissioner Fayoade. The police chief underscored the importance of such initiatives in fortifying the security apparatus and fostering a safer environment for the community.

Assuring the public of the station’s efficacy, Commissioner Fayoade urged residents of Surulere to actively engage with the police officers stationed there by reporting cases and concerns. He emphasized the station’s central location as a strategic advantage in ensuring prompt and effective responses to security issues.

The modernized Bode Thomas Police Station stands not only as a testament to resilience but also as a beacon of hope for a safer and more secure Surulere. The strategic relocation reflects a thoughtful approach to community safety, addressing vulnerabilities exposed during the Endsars protest while embracing technological advancements and contemporary infrastructure.
