Police Strike Deadly Blow: Notorious Kidnappers Neutralized, Camps Destroyed in Mpape Raid

In a daring pre-dawn operation, the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Bureau – Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) dealt a decisive blow to notorious kidnappers terrorizing Abuja residents, neutralizing the infamous kingpin Musa Wada (Sabo) Magaji and dismantling their camps in Mpape.

The operation, conducted on February 9, 2024, at approximately 2:40 am, saw FIB-IRT operatives acting swiftly on intelligence to launch a targeted assault on the kidnappers’ stronghold. Engaging in a fierce gun battle that lasted for about 30 minutes, the police forces succeeded in eliminating many of the armed bandits, including Musa Wada, while also destroying their camps.

This significant victory comes on the heels of a recent operation that led to the neutralization of Abubakar Wada, an associate of Musa Wada, on February 8, 2024. Abubakar Wada’s capture provided critical intelligence that guided the police to the kidnappers’ hideout, located in the outskirts of Mpape Hills.

Musa Wada, known as Sabo, was the mastermind behind a spate of kidnappings for ransom plaguing Abuja, as well as neighboring areas in Kaduna and Nasarawa states. His criminal network specialized in targeting wealthy individuals and executing high-profile abductions, wreaking havoc on communities and instilling fear among residents.

The successful raid on the kidnappers’ hideout represents a significant victory for law enforcement and a major setback for criminal elements operating in the region. In addition to neutralizing the perpetrators, the police recovered vital evidence from the scene, including mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, charms, and narcotics, which will aid ongoing investigations.

Efforts are underway to recover additional arms, ammunition, and equipment used by the kidnappers to carry out their nefarious activities, further disrupting their operations and dismantling their criminal infrastructure.

In a statement following the operation, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He emphasized the force’s proactive approach to dismantling criminal networks and bringing perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice.

The successful operation in Mpape serves as a testament to the dedication and bravery of law enforcement officers, who risk their lives daily to protect communities and uphold the rule of law. As the fight against crime continues, the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its resolve to rid the nation of criminal elements and restore peace and security to the region.
