President Tinubu unveils geometric power plant in Aba, promising 24/7 electricity supply

President Bola Tinubu, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, inaugurated the Geometric Power Generating Company in Aba, underscoring its potential to revolutionize power supply in Abia’s commercial hub. The Integrated Power Project (IPP) launch aims to bolster the efficiency of Nigeria’s power sector, marking a milestone in realizing dreams and persistence. Tinubu lauded Prof. Barth Nnaji’s relentless pursuit of this vision over two decades, hailing the project’s completion and its wide-ranging benefits for the state and nation.

In his address, Tinubu commended Prof. Ben Oramah of AFREXIM Bank for championing sustainable growth initiatives and lauded Governor Alex Otti’s impactful leadership in Abia. Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, highlighted the project’s significance in generating 188 megawatts for nine local government areas (LGAs) in Abia, with excess power channeled to the national grid. He assured that the government would closely monitor Geometric Power’s performance as a potential model for nationwide power sector enhancement.

Governor Otti emphasized the IPP’s role in delivering uninterrupted power to households and businesses in Aba and neighboring LGAs, urging residents to prioritize payment of electricity bills. Otti underscored the federal government’s support for private-sector ventures like the Aba IPP, stressing the need for community vigilance against power infrastructure vandalism.
