The Nigeria Police Force has announced that it secured an impressive 16,200 convictions out of the 29,052 criminal cases it prosecuted before various courts across the country within a single year.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the convictions resulted in the imposition of various forms of punishments on the convicted individuals in accordance with the provisions of the law. The successful prosecution of these cases demonstrates the effectiveness of the legal framework in combating crime and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.

Out of the total number of cases prosecuted, Adejobi revealed that 1,476 accused individuals were discharged at the discretion of the jury, indicating the meticulous scrutiny and adherence to due process throughout the legal proceedings.

Additionally, a substantial portion of the cases, totalling 17,676, were conclusively dispensed, reflecting the expeditious handling of legal matters by the judiciary. Despite the significant achievements recorded, Adejobi noted that 11,376 cases are currently undergoing prosecution, underscoring the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of criminal activities are brought to justice.

Furthermore, 51 cases have been subjected to appeal, reflecting the commitment of the legal teams to uphold the integrity of the judicial process and safeguard the rights of all parties involved.
