Gunmen kidnap former Nasarawa Deputy Governor

The Nasarawa state Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of a former deputy governor of the state, professor Onje gye-Wado in the earlier hours of friday by unknown gunmen who invaded Gwagi village in Wamba LGA, and whisked him to an unknown destination.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command confirmed this to journalists in a statement in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital

Nansel explained that upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Wamba Division swiftly moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had fled with the victim before their arrival.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police CP Maiyaki Baba has mobilised and deployed reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilante, and local hunters to complement an ongoing search to rescue the victim ,hale and hearty and arrest the perpetrators of the act.

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command also reassured the general public, especially the family of Prof Onje Gye-wado of their commitment to give criminal a tough time in the state

The Commissioner of Police therefore called on anyone with useful information that will enable the Police to succeed in the rescue operation to call the following telephone numbers: 09115629178, 09067877096, 08112692680 and 08104441179.

Prof. Onje Gye-Wado served under the current National chairman of APC , Senator Abdullahi Adamu , as deputy governor between 1999 and 2003.

Onje has also served in different capacities as Dean Faculty of Law, Nasarawa state university. HOD Law Department , NIPS Kuru, commissioner Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission and others.
