Ningi insists N3.7 trillion not traced to any project in Nigeria’s 2024 budget
The Senator representing Bauchi Central in the National Assembly, Abdul Ningi, has insisted that a sum of N3.7 trillion is not traceable to any project in the N28.7 trillion 2024 budget, passed by the legislature and assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Ningi said he is not afraid of being suspended for speaking the truth.
Ningi added that he didn’t speak on behalf of the Northern Senators Forum saying he’s capable of carrying his own cross.
The senator said there was no time in the interview he granted over the issue where he accused President Tinubu of implementing two budgets and that he was biased against the North.
He said based on findings from consultant the hired, a sum of N25 trillion can be verified and accounted for in the 2024 budget based on projects, monies and location but he insisted that the remaining N3.7 trillion in the budget cannot be verified.
Ningi agreed that both chambers of the National Assembly passed a total sum of N28.7trillion budget for the 2024 fiscal year which was N1.2 trillion above the N27.5 trillion proposed by President Tinubu.
