The Kaduna police command says its operatives arrested 21 suspects for allegedly trying to disrupt the October 19 LGA elections in the state.

In a statement on Thursday, Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, said the “political thugs” were planning to block transport routes and interfere with the distribution of election materials by targeting ad hoc staff handling logistics.

On October 19, the Kaduna state Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) conducted LG elections in the state.

He added that operatives of the operation Fushin Kada acted quickly to prevent the disruption of the electoral process.

He noted that sharp weapons and hard drugs were recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged accordingly,” the statement reads.

“Investigations are ongoing to determine if they have links to other individuals or groups involved in the attempt.

“Ibrahim Abdullahi, the commissioner of police, praised the operatives for their quick action.

“He also called on residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the police to maintain peace and security in the state.”
