The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has said it will not only consider a strike, but a legal action against the federal government should there be no end to the shortage ultimatum ends next over shortage of cash and fuel by the end of its seven-day ultimatun next week.
TUC president, Festus Osifo whike speaking at a briefing in Abuja said the Labour movement will not support calls for the postponement of the elections over the current socio-economic challenges and called for an immediate end to the suffering being experienced by Nigerians to access to their hard earned money from banks.
The TUC blamed the Central Bank of Nigeria and Deposit Money Banks for creating unnecessary tension and adding to the suffering of the people by not making available the lower denominations of N100, N50 and N20 notes, which were not redesigned along with the higher denominations.
The body said it will liaise with the new leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) to ensure that the twin crises of cash shortage and fuel scarcity are adequately addressed for the ultimate benefit of the ordinary Nigerian.
He said the leadership of the union will be monitoring the situation and will give appropriate directive should it remain the same at the end of the ultimatum.
