Wizkid’s ‘Piece of My Heart’ breaks YouTube Nigeria record

Wizkid’s latest single, Piece of My Heart, featuring Brent Faiyaz, is rewriting the record books. Released on October 18, 2024, the track has already become the most-streamed song in its first week on YouTube Nigeria, amassing a staggering 1.2 million streams. This new record breaks the previous milestone of 1.18 million streams set by Fireboy’s Peru remix with Ed Sheeran.

The R&B-inspired single also made waves on Spotify Nigeria, setting the record for the highest first-day streams—surpassing Wizkid and Asake’s previous record with MMS. Piece of My Heart became the first African song to hit 1 million opening day streams on Spotify, reflecting Wizkid’s influence as one of Nigeria’s most commercially successful artists.

This streaming success kicks off the “Morayo” era for the Grammy-winning star, who is set to release his highly anticipated sixth album on November 22, 2024.
