In the wake of the shocking abduction of six sisters and their father in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), former Governor Peter Obi has voiced his deep concern over the escalating insecurity and tragic loss of life in Nigeria. The incident took a horrifying turn with the reported killing of one of the kidnapped sisters, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Expressing his distress on Twitter, Peter Obi underscored the gravity of the situation, stating, “The reported tragic killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar… not only shows how insecurity currently ravages the nation but also shows how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers.”

Appeal to conscience: Leaders urged to act

Obi, a prominent political figure, highlighted the profound impact of the ordeal on the affected family and called on leaders to recognize their duty to protect the lives of every Nigerian citizen. He expressed deep sympathy, emphasizing, “The trauma being experienced by this family and the blood of this innocent child should prick our conscience as leaders.”

As the tragic incident unfolded in the nation’s capital, Abuja, Obi drew attention to the unsettling fact that such occurrences are now happening in what is considered a symbol of Nigeria’s security. Urging immediate action, he stressed the need for enhanced security measures nationwide to curb the rising wave of kidnappings, killings, armed robberies, and violent attacks.

Peter Obi directed a plea to the government and security agencies, urging them to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining family members still in captivity. His call resonated with the broader concern for the safety of every Nigerian citizen.

“I am very concerned about how insecurity has continued to ravage every part of our dear nation,” declared Obi, advocating for a collective effort to combat the growing menace.

Condolences and prayers: Extending support to the bereaved

In the face of this heart-wrenching tragedy, Peter Obi extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He offered prayers for the deceased, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, expressing sorrow and a fervent hope for the freedom of the remaining family members held in captivity.

“I sincerely commiserate with the bereaved family and pray God Almighty to forgive Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar’s sins and grant her eternal rest, and grant the rest of the family members their freedom from captivity.
