Kogi Assembly suspends Majority Leader, 8 other members, LG Chairmen

Kogi State House of Assembly on Thursday suspended nine Members including the Majority Leader, Muktar Bajeh over what it called alleged acts of terrorism and electoral violence.

The House also suspended seven Local Government Chairmen for the same allegations.

The suspension of the members and Local Government Chairmen followed a letter sent to the House by Governor Yahaya Bello and the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Abdullahi Bello and read by the Speaker.

The suspended members are; Majority Leader, Muktar Bajeh, Aderonke Aro of Yagba West, Bello Hassan of Ajaokuta, Moses Akande of Ogori Magongo, A.T Ahmed of Okene one, Daniya Rayi of Bassa, Atule Egbunu of Ibaji, Atajachi Musa of Idah and Kilani Olushola Olumo of Ijumu Constituency.

 

The Local Government Chairmen are; Joseph Salami, Adavi, Mustapha Akaaba, Ajaokuta, Muktar Shuaibu, Bassa, Williams Eko’ojo of Ibaji, Moses Olorunleke of Kabba-Bunu, Goke Oparason of Ogori Magongo, Pius Kolawole of Yagba West.

 

The Vice Chairmen of Bassa, Kabba-Bunu and Ogori Magongo were also suspended until conclusion of investigation by the House Ad hoc Committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Alfa Rabiu.

 

Also, the House received a petition from Lokoja Local Government on Financial misappropriation leveled against the Chairman, Danasabe Mohammed and the Council Leader, Blessing Bala-Ogun.

 

While the Suspended Chairmen of Kabba-Bunu, Adavi and Ajaokuta, are to appear before the adhoc Committee, the rest are suspended upon completion of investigation by relevant security agencies.
