The Kenya Police Service has reportedly arrested Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance regional manager who escaped from Nigeria.

According to Punch, the international criminal police organisation (Interpol) is working towards extraditing Anjarwalla to Nigeria within the week.

On March 22, Anjarwalla escaped from an Abuja guest house where he and Tigran Gambaryan, his colleague, had been kept by the federal government.

The fugitive was in April tracked down in Kenya by a team comprising operatives drawn from the International Criminal Police Organisation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenya Police Service.

The regional manager for Binance in Africa, “fled Nigeria using a smuggled Kenyan passport,” the Office of the National Security Adviser, headed by Nuhu Ribadu, had said in a statement following his escape from custody.

Anjarwalla was said to have escaped after guards led him to a nearby mosque for prayers during the Ramadan fast.

The Binance regional manager was said to have fled Nigeria on a Kenyan passport.

Anjarwalla and Gambaryan were charged with tax evasion and money laundering by the federal government. The duo were arrested and detained on February 28.

Punch reported that government sources familiar with the case confirmed Anjarwalla’s arrest.

“Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he would be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL,” one source was quoted as saying.
